Youth for Soap is an original and innovative idea form the apprentices of “Espace Entreprise” attending the commercial school in Geneva.
A non-profit association was created with the aim of avoid waste by collecting the used soaps from hotels in order to recycle them.
These soaps are then redistributed to people in need living in Geneva or, in case of surplus, to humanitarian associations active in developing coutries.
The soap is recycled by a team from the “Fondation Ensemble” as part of a protected workshop that allows menthally disabled people to acquire usefull skills for their daily lives.
We give priority to short circuits and we favor transport by bicycles thank to the help of the association “Caddie Service”.
The production process of the recycled soaps was developped thanks to the work of the chemistry students team from HEIA in Fribourg. Controls on soaps lots are regularly made by the private laboratory Amicolab.
More than 6000 soaps have been distributed to homeless people and families in need since the launch of the project.
